Jerry Garcia Band: How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You) - 11/19/93
Jerry Garcia Band. Hampton Coliseum, Hampton, Va. November 19, 1993. Jerry opens possibly the greatest late show of his band's long run with this rousing staple. A beauty which presaged the truly magical night to come. A spiritual evening at the Hampton Spaceship. That night's "Shining Star" still rings out. Everything came together that night with Jer's new Cripe axe "Lightnin' Bolt" leading the way. Despite his frail state, Jerry pulled it together that night for something beautiful. His ailing state and worsening addiction took him downhill from there but that night in Virginia he pulled it together for perhaps one last real pinnacle...a phenomenal show.

Solo exerpt from Garica Band performance of Van Morrison's "He Ain't Give You None" from Hampton 1991. Great example of Jerry's later guitar work with his band. Sweet stuff.

Jerry comes to the rescue with a rippin solo after Bobby flubs the lyrics. Great moment from the opener from one of my favorite late Dead shows- Dean Dome 3/24/93.

summer dead at alpine valley '89. Jerry and the band in one of their greatest string of late shows. This phenomenal, rare pro footage was shot for the making of "Downhill from Here" this track however did surprisingly not make the final cut onto the resulting dvd.

Jerry teased " Rock n Roll pt 1" by David Essex! ❤😅❤
IWT!
This is such classic Jerry. He fumbles the initial riff & first verse a bit but just comes to life in the second verse singing 'Yo no soy marinero. Soy capitan.' (I'm not a sailor. I'm the captain!)
U just dont how good
I was in a grateful dead tribute band with my dad and his best friend. Today was my dad’s best friend’s funeral. RIP Gav.
Condolences.... remembered isn't gone
Hot dam‼️
Love how Phil comes through in this mix; just absolutely kills it
I swear he’s better when he gets aggravated. Lol
There are things you can replace, and others you cannot...
Good to be living with the Dead!
Letting go is difficult, practically impossible without multiple attempts to leave. I'm sure nomads had easier lives, using what they could and then escaping with only what was truly necessary. But, who can Live that way? Especially now...we have Love to remind us of the light, but when Hate gets involved everything gets messy. Keeping our heads, that's what this song is about. And, not becoming frustrated along the way...(Nick, 5/11/2024)
I have birds chirping outside my back yard right now while playing this song
Its gone if only you believe that. His soul is a part of all of us.
When the shit hits the fan and you lose the lyrics Garcia is there to throw you a life line. Not only throw it, but ready to haul your ass in through the chop lickety-split hand over hand till you make it to the boat and back up on deck again! Everybody needs mates like that!
Great song, bad user. 5 commericals for one song, you dont understand shakedown street. Get a grip or garciaya never
yes , micky was on fire !
such a cool unique song. very phun to play. I love when jer "Fans" his guitar using right hand. it was always exciting... you knew he was feeling it...
Kinda reminds me of a segment in fire Cornell 77 where Jerry messes up a line then goes straight into a fucjing amazing solo and you just totally forget aboit the eff up. classic dead moment

I remember getting this show back in the tape trading days and wearing it out.
I think this almost had another old timey name cant remember maybe ethelreda or something then Althea was suggested and everyone was like thats it
Peals of fragile thunder.
WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE MUSIC

Terrible
This is what music can be at it's best.
Wow
I absolutely love the back & forth between JERRY & BRENT THEY LET IT GROW TO WERE ALL THAT WAS NEEDED WAS A LOOK AT EACH OTHER AND ONE OR THE OTHER TOOK OVER.
@4:09 all gods creations get the credit for that transition.
Jer was firing a rocket during that solo wow
true musicians to the core✨💫🌠💥💯
They always seem to be having just a grateful time playing together. Sooooo coooool
"Good Lovin'>La Bamba> Good Lovin' " WOW WOW WOW!!! And Jerry singing in Espanol. WOW WOW WOW!!!
God I miss Jerry...
It's funny how some of the Dead's best live tracks first premiered on Ace and Garcia. They may have been billed as Bobby and Jerry solo records but the whole band was on both.
1:41 Bobby throwing in that little China Cat tease is perfection
I hate to ruin it but there were 420 comments before me
Aaaaaaanndd…….that’s why they call him Captain Trips
That was an epic three show run and the last time at alpine valley. Rained like hell the last night.
